Valentine season and we start to feel those pangs more than ever.
Is it possible to really love someone without really knowing the person? How do we know someone ? Do i really ‘know’ those with whom i have lived or known for years at end- parents, friends, lovers… does one really have to bed someone, know their favourite colours, dishes, pet peeves, pet’s name, family, car license plate, birth history, schooling, brand of toothpaste, colour of underwears, clothing style, email passwords, financial background, past lovers, hair-dresser’s name, have exclusive copyright to love etc. to love someone ?…..agreed, doing all that brings about a certain level of familiarity, comfort and intimacy in a relationship but that all this should be so essential to a something so sublime as love is like trying to catch moon’s reflection in the water…
Perhaps the reflection itself is the reality and there is no moon?
